This cool and creamy dessert is a top five favorite in our rig. You see lots of recipes of mine from my Gram's kitchen. This one is one from my Mom's. It was my little brother's favorite dessert when we were growing up and I still make it for him on his birthday.
  • 3 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1½ sticks of butter (12 Tbsp)
  • ¼ C sugar
  • 2 8-oz. blocks cream cheese
  • 2 pkgs Dream Whip
  • 1 C cold milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • ½ C sugar
  • 1 30-oz cherry pie filling
  1. For the crust, sprinkle the graham cracker crumbs in a greased 9 x 13 baking pan. Pour melted butter over crumbs and add ¼ C sugar. Mix well and press into a crust just in the bottom of the pan. Bake at 350•F for 10 minutes. Cool.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large mixing bowl, prepare 2 Dream Whip whipped topping packages according to box directions with 1 C milk and 1 tsp vanilla. When peaks form and topping is done, add additional teaspoon of vanilla. Cube cream cheese and add to whipped topping along with about ½ C sugar. Mix well but not too much or this layer will become runny. The mixture will have some lumps in it, but that's ok.
  3. Spoon this layer over the graham cracker crust.
  4. For the top layer of the dessert, spoon cherry pie filling on top. This dessert looks pretty when made in a glass dish.
